Teen Advisory Board becomes Library Apprentice Group!
The Goodnow Library and the Goodnow Library Foundation are excited to announce the transformation of the Teen Advisory Board into the new Library Apprentice Group! If you are interested in technology, books, video production, writing, or service this is the group for you.
We invite tweens and teens, ages 11 and up to join this exciting new group which will meet the first and third Thursdays of the month from 5:00-6:00 PM, in the Historical Room Registration is required.
What do Library Apprentices do?
Working together we will promote library materials and services by creating digital content! At our bimonthly meetings we will increase literacy and technology skills primarily through the planning and creation of video book reviews. During the first week, we will write and storyboard presentations. During the second week we will film and edit reviews. In the future, this group will experiment with different media forms such as green screen tech, whiteboard videos, podcasting, stop motion, and animated book reviews depending on the interest of the group members. Pizza and fun always guaranteed!
Responsibilities of Library Apprentices include:
- Evaluate library services for teens
- Advocate for the library
- Review & recommend books
- Plan & attend library programs
- Implement any librarian-approved service project for the library
Why should I join?
Library Apprentices will get so much out of this program! This includes:
- 2 service hours per month (1 hour/meeting)
- Food, Friends & Fun
- New skills (literacy, technology, time management, organization, event planning, etc)
- A significant addition to resume/college application
